Service-applications for a Workstation with Windows

Service-applications are programs, that do not belong to the operating-system of the computer, are not directly visible for a business-user but inevitable to run business-applications..

Prerequisite for the installation of the service-applications is the completion of the installation of the operating system (Windows 98) as descriped in the dokument 'Installation of a workstation with the operating-system Microsoft** Windows** 98SE' .

Installed service-applications:

Attach network-drives of a remote computer

The document describes how drives on another computer (e.g. Server) which where defined for 'sharing' can be attached as 'network-drives'.

Java-Runtime-Environment

Java is a programming language which was developed with the intention, that programs written in Java can be executed on computers with different operating-systems.
In contrast to other programming-languages programs written in Java do not need special coding for a particular operating-system.
To enable the execution of Java-program on a particular operating-system, a Java-Runtime-Environment (JRE) or a Java-Development-Kit (JDK) must be installed as a service.
