Service-applications for the Server

Service-applications
are programs, which do not directly belong to the operating-system of
a computer.
Nevertheless, service-applications are requiered to
perform business-applications.
Usually service-applications are
not visible to a standard-user.
Prerequisites:
The
installation of the operating-system (RedHat**-Linux**
7.1 or RedHat**-Linux** 9) as decribed in the document 'Installation
of the Server with Linux** (RedHat** 7.1)' respectively
'Installation
of the Server with Linux** (RedHat** 9)' was
performed successfully.
Installation of one or more printers; either with command-line tool or graphic-tool. |

A computer, which should not be running 24 hours / day can be switched off after a predefined running-time. |

Copy data to be backed-up to tape |
Data to be backed-up are copied to a dedicated directory and furtheron to the backup-tape. |
This
service enables the access to specified directories from other
computers in the network. |

This service enables the access to a locally attached printer from other machines running Linux**. |
|
The
Standard-Application-Message-Block-Architecture-Server provides
the defined directories as network-drives. |
|
Java
is a programming language which was developed with the intention,
that programs written in Java can be executed on computers with
different operating-systems. |
|
The
JBoss-Application-Server is a special service, that controls and
administers Enterprise-Java-Beans (EJBs). |
|
Databases store data on a storage-medium (e.g. the harddisk of the computer and allow to search and retrieve the stored data according to specified criteria. |
